Rafael Palmeiro II

Just when we thought it was safe to have faith in major league statistics, Major League Baseball announces that it has suspended Rafael Palmeiro 10 days for violating the league's steroid testing policy. This comes as both a major surprise and a major disappointment to us. Palmeiro, who we recently praised, vehemently denied using steroids when he testified before Congress, and his denials were one reason people didn't believe some of Jose Canseco's accusations. He still denies using steroids, but he has a lot of explaining to do because this revelation has shaken the trust many of us have in baseball's post-steroid policy statistics.
